Organizational Talent!

Once again I had the chance to show off my organizational talent. Along Privé Event Planning I planned a fashion show at Greenhouse. We had very talented make up artists as well as hair stylists. The models gave their best and the show had a good reputation.

Blazers simply work!

The blazer is fall's mostpractical purchase.

Style tip?  Styling tip for Fall (and for Spring)?  Pair your blazer over your favorite dress.  For day, you can pair a boyfriend blazer over your printed summer dress to continue wearing it into the Fall season.  But you can wear this trend right into evening, pairing a tuxedo jacket with a gorgeous evening gown, as at Phillip Lim Or play with layering by pairing a longer blazer over a shorter blazer over a fabulous dress, as at Diane von Furstenberg.  Don’t wait till fall to wear this trend - we’re all about blazers over dresses for Spring, Summer, and beyond.

Harem and high waisted pants!!

How does a seemingly unusual trend — to wit, harem pants — end up on almost every runway at New York Fashion Week? For harem pants, the seed may lie across the Atlantic, where the look was reportedly worn by a very chic French editor. Fashion designers visit the same cities, see the same people, stay in the same hotels and see the same art exhibits. I love the style and proud to be an owner of one pair.

High Waisted Pants
Those who long for a slender and long silhouette will have the chance to have it with the latest pants trends that aim to offer you some secret style weapons. Indeed those who complain about their short legs will enjoy the privilege of a long and lean figure by embracing the Fall/Winter 2010 high-waisted pants trend. Indeed great designers found out the secret solution to provide us with fashion tricks that would help us create the illusion of a perfectly-proportionate body. Models on the runway illustrated how long legs can become even more longer if you wear the right pants designs. Though some might be skeptical about pairing the high-waited design with the various body shapes however style critics stick to its beneficial effect irrespective of silhouettes. These are only some of the most faddish examples for the high-waisted pants trend.

NYC Fashion Week September 2010

Finally the week arrived and my planner was packed with shows to go to. Next to walking in all those shows I organized a show myself for Privé Event Planning Inc. for fashion night out. On that day I already had two shows to walk in at Couture Fashion Week, which was by far the most exciting runway show I've ever been in. Right before you got on stage you saw all the other girls on a big tv screen and seconds later the director send you out on the runway. After my first walk, I wanted to go out again. On the same day, I had the chance to walk down again for the Geman designer Marco Marcu. The feeling was amazing.

For the first time the Mercedes Benz fashion Week took place at the Lincoln Center. The show for fashion night out was a great opening for FW. The streets were filled with stylish people holding shopping bags. Fifth Avenue was blowing up and I couldn't stop smiling. What a week!!!

Anna Mccraney Show
My last show was for Anna Mccraney in the lower east side in a little garden, which was something else. Anna Mccraney was the winner of  Bravo's "The Fashion Show" and has refreshing looks for spring '11. The whole team was very pleasant and the show went very smooth.

Casting time!

About two weeks before NYC Fashion Week my email inbox was filled with casting calls to go to. I couldn't wait for my favorite week of the year. Luckily, I did not have to go to school neither go to work because most of my little german students were on summer break. (info: next to school, modeling etc. I am tutoring german)
Even though I had nothing else to do than going to castings all day, I was not able to make it to each one of them. A lot of them were at the same time and miles away from each other.
Every time I entered the room I saw all these beautiful young girls sitting in lines with their books on the lap. Funny picture! You waited 5 minutes... looked at the other girl's walk and then it was your turn. Show your portfolio and then walk yourself. "Slow! Turn! Now fast" etc... like on a treadmill. :) It is always a thrill.

The longest time I spend for castings was for the Couture Fashion Week, which took place the weekend of Fashion Week. Girls who were interested in walking had to take off two days off and waited all day for castings in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Same procedure... girls lining up, walking and designers picking out the girls they think fit in their pieces. It was quiet exhausting but worth the waiting. I got picked for 3 shows on two days and on Sunday I already had another show. What a success!!

A Little Education

Even a break has to be a little educational. So do not forget your fashion magazines and iPod!
